The Foundation Course is ideal for both new yoga students and existing yogis, providing a solid and necessary foundation of knowledge to inform and transform both shared and personal practice. We will explore the subtle and active aspects of the physical body and its alignment through movements and held postures, working with the breath and the energy body to enhance capacity and confidence. Yoga is more than simply the practice of asanas (postures), we will also explore aspects of pranayama (breath awareness), dharana (concentration) and dhyana (meditation) to help you achieve clarity, purpose and mindfulness both on and off your yoga mats.
This 10 session course takes place over 5 weeks, providing a calm and balanced environment for learning and growth. By connecting the body and breath with your awareness, you will finish the course equipped with the knowledge and confidence to attend any yoga class in the future. Each student will receive a copy of Nth Yoga's book Visualise your Asana, which includes visuals to guide you in your self practice and execution of the posture, along with the English and Sanskrit name for each asana.

We encourage new students to take the Foundation Course before attending general classes.

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a soft tissue therapy designed to loosen the fascia and connective tissue surrounding and supporting the muscles of the body. Over time, this tissue becomes restricted causing pain and limiting movement. By releasing this buildup we can improve the suppleness and function of our muscles.

Yin yoga was developed to penetrate deep into these tissues by relaxing into muscles, bones and joints for increasing flexibility and aiding healing. In this workshop you will experience how these practices complement and work together for a full body rejuvenation, rebalancing and stress release.

In the first hour you will learn MFR techniques to shift stubborn tightness in the fascia (the connective tissue ) and muscles, helping to release habitual muscular patterns and chronic pain and enhancing everyday mobility. Similar to the hands of a skilled therapist, You will learn how to use a MFR ball for self treatment, finding and treating restrictions within our fascial system, easing blocked energies, built up pain responses and chronic tension. In the second hour, you will relax into Yin yoga for a slow and mindful practice designed to wipe your stress away physically and mentally and bring you to an altered state of being.

Yin yoga is a beautiful adjunct to a busy life or indeed a more yang style yoga practice. In Yin yoga we concentrate on sensation in the present moment. It is literally the anti-thesis of multi-tasking, and at the same time it is a powerful physical practice, working on deep connective tissue to relieve the body of stagnant energies.

Back Bending

Workshop with David Patriki (2 Hr)

Saturday May 11,
12:30pm - 2:30pm

Early bird price $30 ending May 1,

Backbending can often be seen as the pinnacle of a yoga practice, in terms of the physical demands of the body, but also the emotional boundaries that are encountered.

During this 2 hour class, we’ll go through some foundational knowledge of backbends, when to practice them, how to practice them, and, perhaps most importantly, why to practice them.

This practice will be delivered in the hatha style, taking time to enter poses safely, and allowing sufficient time for rest and rebound in between.

Although simple backbends can be practised by anyone & everyone, more advanced backbends require a base level of physical and mental fitness. All levels are welcome in this practice, but those with a regular practice will benefit the most from this practice
